Back to basics- The Grass Roots HD/ZF way

A little while ago I wrote an article about the Zero Fighter crew, who are the brains (and the brawn) behind “Hori Dori”.

Over the weekend I popped down to Meremere dragway to find an empty carpark, which gave no hint of the lively and friendly event happening at the finish end of the drag strip.

This is Grass Roots drifting, there is no flash paint, no 265 wide tires and no widebody monsters with more than a house deposit spent on them. What there was, were a bunch of guys and girls having fun, enjoying the BBQ, learning if drifting was for them in a safe environment under the experienced eyes of ZF veterans. It was kind of nice to step back in a sense to a place where there were no egos and no false sense of importance, just man, machine and a desire to give it a go.
