0NZ Drifting, back in 09
Been going through a bit of old footage recently, seems people quite enjoy seeing how things ‘were’ , even tho 2 and a bit years is really not all that long ago.
From memory, Gaz Whiter and Mad Mike were a handful of points apart going into this event, and pretty much whoever did better at the event was going to take the title. That honour would go to Mikey in the FURTSY RX8 before it went stateside.
Check this out, evidence of Kyle ‘Manchild’ Jackways in action in the ‘topgun’ a31 Cef, Jackways had some pretty good success at Pukekoke, and when he was on form was a tough battle for anyoneCan’t really have a drift post at all that doesn’t feature some Fanga Dan, here he is behind the wheel of his S15 (dent wasn’t there at the start of the day) doing what he does best. Adam Richards is another of similar vintage who’s been on the scene since around 02/03, back in 09 fresh back from EDC he was sporting the ‘dayglo’ look.
While many cars have changed a great deal externally, Andrew Redwards S14 has only changed subtly due to recent focus on his RX7. I mentioned Gaz Whiter earlier, He was in Big Bens colours back then and ‘only’ making around 380kw out of the SR20. On the day, it was Fanga Dan who took Gaz down, giving Mad Mike the series win.
One other thing that hasn’t changed is the ‘special’ people who make drift events…..some of them …haven’t changed
