0Mac Kwok Pre-Season update
It all went wrong really, that’s the easiest way to put it. The team had put in hundreds of hours over the off season with a single goal in mind….Manfield for Round 1 of D1NZ, and what we are hoping will be our best season ever. The car went over to D-Tech Motorsport and made some good numbers, the team were happy and then BOOM! Our plans lay in tatters with a damaged engine.
Upon strip down for inspection we found sand from the blasting process inside the rocker covers and this is what we think caused the failure. Mac had asked for acid dip to prevent this, but for some reason that wasn’t done. Guess it could be worse and it’s better to find this pre-season than during.
Thanks to Brett ” Bundy” Hyslop and his speedway team, we sourced a new block and from 2 engines have assembled a good strong motor that is better than it has ever been. More power….less boost…. good combo any day!
The car still needs to go back to Dave and the team at D-Tech for final tweaking and that will happen next week, but in the meantime our fresh JOPT design has been expertly applied to the car by Wilsigns and Graphics. We were going to keep this until Friday before showing people, but we are pretty happy with the result so thought we’d share it. Big unveils just ain’t the HB Rep way!
Mac wants to thank his dedicated team who have been working on the car til at least Midnight every day to get the car to this point, and send a massive thank you to all the sponsors who support Mac Kwok Motorsport.
Milwaukee Tools, Luxury Sports, Loose Kid Industries, Dtech Motorsport, Just Caged Fabrication, JOPT Creative, Revolution Electrical, Hector Jones, Dents panel repairs, Total products, HB Trim and Canvas, MGNinc, ‘Magic’ Mike Davy and all the family and friends who put their heart and soul into helping Mac Kwok Motorsport.
